1977 was the first year oval racing had independant front suspension systems. Kawasaki & Ski-Doo had all their sleds outfitted with the new front ends, but Polaris only had a handful of the machines. From the very first race it was clear that the Polaris system worked much better. Combined with a new motor, new clutches and new driving talent, Polaris won 90% of all available races that year.
